THE 4 ATTS SURCHARGES IN ENGLISH AND SIAMESE ISSUED NOVEMBER, 1892
The Siamese only 4 atts surcharges printed in October, 1892 were additionally surcharged "4 atts" in English. This was done using four types of handstamp by the Siam Mercantile Printing Press, Bangkok.

DESCRIPTION OF THE ENGLISH SURCHARGE TYPES
(I) Type 1 - "4 atts" in small roman type without period
(II) Type 2 - "4 atts" in large roman type without period
(III) Type 3 - "4 atts" in small roman type with period
(IV) Type 4 - "4 atts" in large roman type with period
THE TOTAL NUMBER ISSUED OF ALL TYPES WAS 188,000 pieces

CONSTANT VARIETIES
The constant varieties found in the English portion of these surcharges are mostly due to the inclusion of one or more characters from an antique font into the normally all roman font word "atts." The illustrations below show the difference between roman and antique characters but it should be remembered that none of the handstamps have the word "atts" wholly in antique characters.
