Issue Notice:

  • Great teacher refer to highly respected Buddhist monk. This is the first time the illustrations of the four of the greatest monks of all ages have been imprinted on the stamps for Buddhists to collect.
  • 1. Somdet Phra Phutthachan (To Brahmaramsi) Wat Rakhang Khositaram Woramahawihan, Bangkok. He is a monk who has clear, through understanding about the Buddhist knowledge. He was able to preach vest and complex Buddhist knowledge in easily comprehensible way to general public. He is widely respected among Buddhists from early reign of Chaki Dynasty. He was born on April 17, 1788(B.E.2331) at Pichit Province and died on June 22, 1872(B.E.2415) at Wat Rakhang Khositaram Woramahawihan at the age of 84 years old. His important antifacts in clude many sets of small image of Buddha.
  • 2. Phra Ratchamuni Samiram Khunupamachan (Luangpu Thuat) Wat Chang Hai, Changwat Pattani. Known to Buddhist as "Luang Pu Thuat: Desalinate Salt Water in a Step," Luang Pu Thuat was born at Tambol Deluang, Amphoe Sating Phra, Changwat Songkhla on March 3, 1582(B.E.2125) and died on March 6, 1682(B.E.2225). He is very wise with Buddhist knowledge. Many people believe that he has performed many miracles when he live and even after he passed away.
  • 3. Phra Archan Man Bhuridatto Wat Pa Sutthawat, Changwat Sakon Nakhon. He was very persistent and preferred a solitary life in forest and cave. Many Buddhists seek him for advice on enlightenment and meditation. He is known as the greatest meditation teacher in the northeastern Thailand. He was born on January 20, 1870(B.E.2413) and died on November 11, 1949(B.E.2492).
  • 4. Khruba Si Wichai Wat Don Chai Sai Mun, Changwat Lamphun. He was born on June 11, 1877(B.E.2420) and died on February 10, 1938(B.E.2481). With his discipline lifestyle and teaching, he leaded Buddhist to pave a walkway up Doi Suthep Hill. He revised Lanna-Thai version of Phra Tripidok and built many temples in his lifetime. He is no doubt and should be recognized as Lanna's Great Teacher and worth highest level of respect.
